Abstract

The miraculous event of the Ascension of the Great Prophet (peace and blessings of God be upon him and his progeny) is among the extraordinary and mysterious events in the Prophetic biography, which has been widely reflected in Islamic historical and hadith sources. This article, using a descriptive-analytical method and a comparative approach, investigates the narrative of Husayn Diyar Bakri (d. 966 AH) of this event in his book *Tarikh al-Khamis fi Ahwal Anfus Nafis*, comparing it with the accounts of other important historical sources such as *Al-Sira al-Nabawiyya* by Ibn Hisham, *Al-Tabaqat al-Kubra* by Ibn Sa'd, *Tarikh al-Umam wa al-Muluk* by Al-Tabari, *Al-Kamil fi al-Tarikh* by Ibn al-Athir, and *Al-Bidaya wa al-Nihaya* by Ibn Kathir. The research findings indicate that Diyar Bakri's narrative, due to its blending of history with Sufi tendencies and affection for the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), is highly detailed, narrative-driven, symbolic, and replete with mystical details and miracles. In contrast, earlier sources like Ibn Hisham and Al-Tabari present more concise and cautious accounts, while more analytical sources like Ibn Kathir adopt a critical and rationalistic approach. This study ultimately enumerates the distinguishing characteristics of Diyar Bakri's narrative and elucidates its position as an influential account in shaping the public and mystical understanding of Muslims regarding the event of the Ascension.
